It is never crowded on the top.
Any book in the Book Reviews section of this blog can potentially make you a very wealthy person. These books are read by millions. Does it mean that the competition get stronger as more and more people apply the same principles in their lives? Absolutely, not! There will always be enough resources for those who are ready to make an effort required to obtain them because the number of those individuals will always be low. Only a small number of readers actually get to the point of any taking action let alone creating competition for each other. Here is why successful people don’t worry about competition.
The change
In order to become whom you want to be you need to be the one whom you never had been.
The main challenge to overcome on the path to success is not the hard work, like many used to think, but the need to change yourself. For starters, you will have to learn to think differently which will affect your decisions that will ultimately take you to the path of accomplishing your goals. The state of the mind you have now might be good enough for being a good employee and living comfortably, but it is not good enough to take you to the next level. And by next level I mean the route of self-improvement and running your own business that doesn’t limit you in how much money you make and how much time you spend doing it. Guess what? People naturally resist change! (read this post to know why)
Discipline and responsibility
The reason above eliminates the most of the competition straight away. The next obstacle for people who decide to succeed on their own is the lack of particular skills. And I say ‘skills’ because the qualities you need to cultivate within yourself are exactly just that. For instance, you need to train yourself to become disciplined and responsible person in order to succeed in any walk of life, be it sports competition or building your own company. It is also why there are fewer bosses than employees. Bosses are those who take responsibility and are committed to their goals.
The lack of passion
There is no competition for passion.
Often people who commit themselves to achieving their goals and have abilities to do so often find themselves wondering in many directions and getting nowhere as the result. To be successful at a chosen field you have to be certain that it is exactly what you want, you enjoy doing it and you are truly passionate about it. Passion is the thing which keeps you running in moments when your motivation runs out. When you are passionate about what you do, the work stops being burden and becomes something you do for fun. This is what many struggle to find within themselves. (check my post on how to discover your passion)
By now you should have already decided if the choice of self-employment and independence is for you. Once you know that you are committed 100% to making your dreams come true return to this blog where I will show you how to get to where you want to be…
